With the “Greif”, Hybrid Aerospace is developing an innovative counter-UAS solution for the safe neutralisation of uncooperative drones. This innovative hunter drone utilises our patented capture claw system to capture drones in a controlled manner and land them safely. This prevents falling debris, collateral damage and risks to uninvolved third parties.
The mechanical capture claw enables a reusable, compact, highly mobile and cost-effective overall system. The intercepted drones remain intact and can be secured, thereby providing targeted support to investigative authorities in criminal prosecution and forensic analysis. An integrated parachute system further enhances safety. The “Greif” thus fulfils the three central pillars of civil drone defence: protection of third parties, rapid and cost-effective deployment, and support for law enforcement.
In stand-alone mode, the “Greif” combines manual control with an autonomous target acquisition and interception system that navigates independently during the final approach and takes over control. This enables a highly mobile response against small drones without the need for complex detection or command-and-control systems. At the same time, the “Greif” can be integrated into more complex detection and defence systems for autonomous drone defence.
As the “Greif” does not use hazardous materials for neutralisation, it falls under the EU’s C3 drone category and does not require complex special approvals or additional operator certifications. Weighing just 2.7 kg, with high mobility and operational readiness within minutes, the “Greif” offers a scalable, legally compliant and cost-effective solution for authorities and organisations with security responsibilities – particularly for operations over urban centres and critical infrastructure
