ERNW is a vendor-independent consulting and security assessment service provider with a dedicated scope on network and application security. The company was founded in 2001 and currently employs 70 people with 40 FTE consultants. Many of the employees gleaned more than ten years of experience in designing, implementing, operating, and securing large corporate networks.

ERNW consists of two companies:

• ERNW Enno Rey Netzwerke GmbH: The originally founded company is mainly responsible for security assessments and consulting services.
• ERNW Research GmbH: The subsidiary company participates in the areas of focus of research projects, digital forensics and incident response, medical device security assessments, and continuous development and refinement of methodologies.

All companies are owned by the same shareholders and share the same culture. Non-disclosure agreements and contractual regulations are put in place between the companies. These contracts bind the companies to the customer contracts, business partners’ requirements and further formalities which the other ERNW companies are bound to.Since its foundation, the company’s continuous growth was financed entirely by its resources and profits. In particular, there are no external shares or dependencies. The companies’ customers are mainly banks & insurance companies, telecommunication providers, large enterprises, and software manufacturers.ERNWs’ employees regularly share their knowledge on international security conferences (e.g., annual speaker on Black Hat conferences since 2006) and publish a high number of professional articles and white papers. In close cooperation with different universities, many theses about current information security topics are created every year.
