Cybersecurity is a topic that concerns the entire IT sector - every single company has to deal with it. In this whole topic, the human being is the weakest link. It is therefore a matter of sensitising employees to the fact that as little information as possible is disclosed and security standards are adhered to.
ISO 27001 plays an important role here. We ourselves are certified according to this standard.
What does this mean for the world of video surveillance?
According to the BSI's "defence-in-depth approach", everyone must make their contribution. Security must therefore take place at all levels of the layers.
As an example, a firewall can protect against external attacks - but as soon as a damaged memory stick is plugged in, any firewall is useless.
If you look at a video network, there are always penetrations (holes) in the outer shell. Our switches look at the processes and shut down ports if necessary. The expensively paid firewall does not notice when lines for an outdoor camera or intercom are routed to the outside through the building wall. This creates uncontrolled access points and backdoors where cyber attackers can spread.
This is where the switch acts as a last line of defence: it shuts down and isolates access points.
We are convinced that switches are the most important products on site.
