On October 4 - 6, 2010, the Essen Security Innovation Symposium will take place within the framework of SECURITY ESSEN. Leading European experts from the political, industrial, economic and scientific fields will comprehensively devote themselves to the challenges of civil security. The speakers will include Stefaan De Clerck, Belgian Minister of Justice, Dr. Luigi Rebuffi, CEO of the European Organisation for Security (EOS) industrial platform, and Prof. Wolf-Rüdiger Dombrowsky from Steinbeis-Hochschule Berlin. The Essen Security Innovation Symposium will make an important contribution to a better understanding of the steps necessary for the implementation of research results and their innovations. This will be highlighted by the fact that the Security Research Department of the Research Execution Agency (REA) of the European Commission will participate in the event.
"The event will centre on the search for European and international solutions to all-encompassing problems such as exist in a concrete form and are placing new responsibility not only on the state but also on industry and the economy," explains Prof. Dr. Alexander Siedschlag, Director of CEUSS | Center for European Security Studies at the Sigmund Freud Private University of Vienna and organiser of the conference.
Until now, 23 speakers from politics, the economy and science who will come from twelve different countries have promised to participate. On October 5, Stefaan De Clerck, Belgian Minister of Justice, will be expected for a speech about the programme of the Belgian presidency of the EU Council in the field of "Home Affairs" and will be followed by Dr. Luigi Rebuffi, CEO of the European Organisation for Security (EOS) industrial platform, who will discuss the consequences of the Lisbon Treaty for the European security industry.
The final speech on October 6 will be delivered by the well-known disaster researcher Prof. Wolf-Rüdiger Dombrowsky from Steinbeis-Hochschule Berlin. Prof. Dombrowsky is a member of the Radiation Protection Commission at the Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Reactor Safety as well as the Vice-Chairman of the Protection Commission at the Federal Ministry of the Interior.
The high-ranking international event will take place in English; the lectures will have a generally comprehensible structure.

No wonder then that, above all, fire protection is an integral part of any security solution – and is consequently a permanent feature at the security. As in other years, international companies are again warmly invited to provide information on the entire spectrum of fire protection. At the fair, an extensive area is reserved for this purpose in Fire Protection Hall 1 – the ideal place for presenting the latest products and solutions. The Bundesverband Technischer Brandschutz – bvfa (federal association of technical fire protection) and the Bundesverband Betrieblicher Brandschutz Werkfeuerwehrverband Deutschland e.V. (works fire brigade association of Germany) have a joint stand nearby. Exhibitors can also take an active part in Fire Protection Day - initiated by MESSE ESSEN and strongly supported by the Essen Fire Brigade. |

Hall 4 has emerged as the ideal location for all information involving data protection, hacker attacks and Trojan horses. Open dialogue forums and current theme parks round off the offerings in this sector. And the publishing house SecuMedia Verlag will again be at the security 2010 with special service offers aimed at sensitising profession al visitors to this important topic.

In a special show covering an area of around 300 sqm, companies can get comprehensive information on topics such as protection, service and private security - everything from training security staff and services for safeguarding money and valuables to all-in security services. This year for the first time, MESSE ESSEN has integrated this field of work into their trade fair concept, supported by the BDWS (German Federation of Protection and Security Companies) and the BDGW (German Federation of Cash and Value Transport s and Security Services), at the same time creating an attractive supplementary presentation platform for exhibitors.

| Welcome to RUHR.2010 | |
 | For one whole year this award will be strongly celebrated in Essen and the 52 other cities, towns and communities in the Ruhr area ...more |
 |
With art, culture and above all lots of history for, after all, the industrial heritage of the Ruhr area can be seen everywhere. The stacks have long since stopped spewing out smoke and many old factories, blast furnaces and colliery winding towers have closed down. They all recall the history of the rise and industrialisation of the Ruhr area – a region where the people wear their hearts on their sleeves, are pleasantly direct and where a curried sausage with tomato sauce and mayonnaise is a feast. Where football became a religion between royal blue and black-yellow. Where people spend their weekends in their allotments or at the canal.
A region which, nevertheless, does not shy away from discovering art and culture. Famous and award-winning theatres, museums with exhibitions of international repute and young, fresh art are a natural element in RUHR.2010 – as the entire event is called.
After visiting the trade fair, add on a few days more and discover a unique region where 5.3 million people will be pleased to welcome you.
