Entrance and companions
On presentation of your disabled persons pass, you will receive a reduced entrance price for some events of MESSE ESSEN. This is indicated on the website of the relevant fairs.
Your companion has free entrance if you have a disabled persons pass with the symbol "B". This only applies to one companion and in conjunction with your entrance ticket.
MESSE ESSEN reserves special parking spaces for disabled people. They are located in the direct vicinity of our East, South and West entrances. Please keep your parking card for people with disabilities or your disabled persons pass at the ready. Our car park attendants will gladly assign you a special parking space.
The East entrance can be reached via car park P1. Special parking spaces in the underground garage P6 A and in the multi-storey car park P5 are available for the South/West entrances.
Please note that not all entrances are open for every fair. The website of the specific fair indicates which entrances are available.
(Bild, Bahn) The underground train 11 runs directly from Essen main railway station to the entrances. We recommend the West entrance. A ramp leads to the entrance from the platform after only 160 metres. From there, it is only about 270 m to the South entrance and about 700 m to the East entrance. The underground station at the East entrance has a lift.
The fairgrounds of MESSE ESSEN are optimally designed to be wheelchair-accessible. The East, South and West entrances have level access. Cloakrooms and the ticket office are located directly on the ground floor. All other halls can be easily reached by lift. You will find more detailed information in the fairground plan.
Wheelchair-accessible toilets are located near the foyers. On the fairgrounds, they are equipped with Eurokey locks. If you do not have a key for them, the toilet maintenance staff will be pleased to unlock the WC. Furthermore, you will receive an appropriate key at every fair information stand on presentation of your ID and leaving a deposit.
You can purchase the key, which can be used at 6,700 locations throughout Europe, from the "Club Behinderter und ihrer Freunde" (CBF - Club of Disabled and Their Friends) in Darmstadt.
